Black Friday is the Friday following Thanksgiving Day in the United States, it is the the beginning of the Christmas shopping season as per the culture. The term “Black Friday” may have originated in Philadelphia, where it was used to describe the heavy and disruptive pedestrian and vehicle traffic which would occur on the day after Thanksgiving. More recently, merchants and the media have used it instead to refer to the beginning of the period in which retailers enjoy the profit instead of posting a loss.It is not an official holiday, but as many professionals and workers have the day off because of the Thanksgiving holidays, this increases the number of potential shoppers. Many retailers open their shops extremely early, some of the large retailers such as Sears, Best Buy, Macy’s, Toys “R” Us, and Walmart have been reported to open as early as midnight on the start of Black Friday in localized areas and remain open for 24 hours throughout the day until midnight the following Saturday.Upon opening, retailers offer excellent deals-the black Friday deals to draw people to their stores. As Black Friday, as the first shopping day after Thanksgiving, has served as the unofficial beginning of the Christmas season. In many cities it is normal to see shoppers standing in a que for hours before stores with big sales open. Once entered the stores, shoppers often rush and grab, as many stores have only a few of the big-draw items.Even the media covers this event as the environment is so joyous, mentioning how early the shoppers began standing in a que at various stores and providing video of the shoppers standing in line and later leaving the shops happily with hands full of carry bags of purchased items. Traditionally Black Friday sales were intended for those shopping for Christmas gifts but soon it became commercialized. This year, this prosperous day is coming on November 26th and it is expected that like the previous years this time also it will be a blast for both the retailers as well as the purchasers and will become a great start for the Christmas shopping season.
