If you are someone that has been placed on probation, or a trial period, by the legal system, then you want to do all you can to avoid probation violation. During this time, it’s good to keep a low profile and stay away from bad influences. Discover some of the basics you need to know if you’re ever in this situation.Your trial period
During this time, there are certain things you should understand. For example, you may be required to see an officer on a consistent basis. It may be once a month or once a week depending on your situation. Or, on the other hand, your crime may be less severe than others and may not require extensive visits with authorities. During this time, some people have to wear a device that monitors their whereabouts. This is considered house arrest. If you are outside of the house or certain parameters, then that can be considered probation violation. Also, even though you aren’t in jail, when you’re on a trial period with the law, you cannot go and come as you please. You have to consult with your officer whenever you want to travel anywhere, and for most people, leaving the state is forbidden. Also, if you have a job but want to get a new one, you’ll need to check with the proper authorities before making any decisions. What not to do
Basically, one of the best things to do is to make sure you understand what is and isn’t acceptable. Talk with your officer to find out the exact dos and don’ts. Courts will not care that you didn’t know a certain action was not allowed. It’s up to you to be clear about that information. Yet, there are some basic situations or things you should just steer clear of all together. For instance, if you have had a restraining order placed against you, be sure not to go anywhere near the person you’re supposed to be staying away from. Also, some other things to avoid are criminal activity, illegal drugs, breaching house arrest, missing an appointment with an officer and more.Consequences
Even with your best intentions, you may end being guilty of probation violation. If so, there are various ways this can be handled. For example, your officer can decide whether or not he or she wants to send you to court for a hearing or simply give you a warning. One thing to keep in mind is that a sure way to end up back in jail is by failing to properly meet with your officer. Furthermore, committing a crime, or failing a drug test is also in direct conflict with your trial period and your officer can easily recommend you go back to prison. The end of your trial period
Once you’ve made it through your entire trial period without probation violation, you’ll show proof that you adhered to all that was required of you. This means sending in proper records. Also the authorities will verify whether or not you have committed any crimes. If all goes well, you will have successfully completed you trial period.
